Rationale
The University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), recognizing the need to improve student autonomy, support digital skills, and reduce classroom fatigue, will be pilot-testing a modified learning environment starting JULY 21, 2025. This initiative, which will be called Async Mondays, will set one asynchronous and four onsite class/work days per week. Below are the details of the initiative:
Schedules
For Higher Education and Basic Education:
Mondays - Online Asynchronous learning starting July 21, 2025
Tuesdays to Fridays - Onsite classes
Saturdays - Onsite classes for some students (scheduled); Online classes for Graduate School
For Higher Education and Basic Education:
Mondays - independent work, professional development, or administrative tasks.
Tuesdays to Fridays - Onsite classes
Saturdays - Online classes for Graduate School
For Higher Education and Basic Education:
Mondays - No office transactions except the following offices at the UIC Fr. Selga (Bankerohan) Campus: SRC, Cashier
Tuesdays to Fridays
All offices:
7:30am – 12:00pm
1:00pm – 6:30pm
Saturdays
All offices:
8:00am – 12:00pm
The following programs are NOT INCLUDED in this initiative and shall continue with their current learning environment:
Clinical Pharmacy and PharmD – delivered online.
Graduate and Post-Graduate programs – delivered online.
Expectations during Async Mondays
1. Students shall:
a. Accomplish Teaching and Learning Activities (TLAs)
b. Manage their own study schedule, engage in independent learning, and practice productivity
c. Dedicate their time to academic pursuits and school-related activities. This schedule is designed to support their learning and development. Therefore, engaging in non-school-related activities, such as vacationing, extended personal errands, or leisure travel, is not permitted.
2. Faculty shall:
a. Ensure that TLAs and ATs are already available on the Learning Management System (LMS) and communicated to the students through official channels.
b. Ensure that TLAs and ATs are doable within a reasonable time to prevent academic fatigue among students.
c. Dedicate their time to focused independent work, professional development, or administrative tasks.
3. Both students and faculty are expected to:
a. Remain in a secure and conducive learning environment, whether at home or another designated study area.
b. Avoid unnecessary travel or venturing to unfamiliar places.
c. Be reachable and responsive through official communication channels for urgent school-related matters.
d. Prioritize their health and safety by making responsible choices regarding their location and activities.
