ILMEA stands for Illinois Music Education Association
ILMEA is an opportunity for young musicians to perform in a select ensemble made up from students around the state. Much like sports, the state of Illinois is divided into districts. Each district holds a festival concert of band, chorus, orchestra, jazz band, and jazz chorus.
We are district 3
This opportunity is available for all students in the junior high and high school level, but does require a serious commitment by the student to spend time outside of school learning the music.
Interested students will submit a video Audition in early October.
The festival concert is held at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois during November.
Some high school students may be selected to move on to All-State festival concert.
All-State is held in Peoria, Illinois at the end of January.
