Drawing with models.

Chorography, an historic (drawing) concept to portray a place, is addressed as an instrument for a case study in Belgium: the castle of Heers, its tithe barn &

picturesque surroundings. By doing so, we use historical, contemporary, digital and tactic representation modes to portray the specificity of this exceptional place. By capturing an inclusive image with an assemblage of views & section models, we aim to meet the original intentions of the concept.

In the conciliation between the mimetic and the exactitude, we seek opportunities to construct a system for representing heritage values. By introducing the architectural model as a chorographical

instrument, we aim to turn the imprecision of Ptolemy’s definition (of Chorograpy) into an opportunity to explore new combinations of representation to assist the practice of adaptive reuse.
