An Info Sheet for JFR Students applying for Scholarships and Bursaries
Limited Nomination Scholarships
Some universities limit how many students we can nominate for some of their major entrance scholarships.
Starting in the fall, please check out the bulletin board in guidance and listen to announcements for nomination deadlines.
Where do I look for scholarships provided by universities?
Visit universityinfo.ca and then click on the scholarships tab.
Visit the websites of your favorite universities and look for scholarships and awards.
Where do I look for scholarships provided by the colleges?
Visit the individual college websites and search for scholarships and awards
More important tips:
The Scholarship Report is emailed to grade 12 students via the cloud and posted in Guidance
The websites provide an extensive list of available scholarships
See the librarian and and borrow the book which lists all scholarships in Canada (one book is for college and one book is for universities)
Routinely check the scholarship bulletin board in guidance
Ask your parents/guardians if their workplaces/clubs/unions/ federations have scholarships
Apply for OSAP once you have accepted at a university or college
Af you are in Grade 12, fill out a grad questionnaire in the spring. This helps your eligibility for school-wide commencement awards
If you are in financial need, look at the college and university websites for bursary information. Start this research early as some colleges and universities have early bursary deadlines
