I am a student at the University of Georgia, majoring in journalism with minors in Spanish and business with a certificate in sports media.
I am an aspiring broadcast journalist, aiming to be an industry-leading reporter in sports and news. I dream of being the face that the American population recognizes and trusts to deliver accurate news in an entertaining, educational and informative way.
Since anchoring my elementary school television show in 2015, I've had a passion for media. I'd find whoever would listen and talk their ear off.
I never considered journalism to be a possible career path, just something I enjoyed doing. As a junior in high school, I started working for my high school show, B-CC TV, as an anchor and executive producer, again, just for fun.
As my senior year rolled around and I started to apply for college, I had yet to consider journalism as a feasible career path. I applied to Boston College for pre-med and was admitted. I was ecstatic; I was going to become a doctor and receive an incredible education!
But the high didn't last.
I thought long-term. Is this really what I want to do for the rest of my life? The answer was no.
I sat down with my Dad and made a decision:
I would rather live with failure than the regret of "what if."
Since that conversation on the kitchen counter, I decided to go all in. I would do anything possible to ensure my dream becomes a reality.
After unenrolling from Boston College, I searched for an institution that had a phenomenal journalism program with opportunities to work in sports. The University of Georgia was the perfect match.
As I dive into my journalism journey and follow my passion, I hope that you do the same. Don't live with the regret of "what if."
GO DAWGS.
