My name is Avice Smith, and I am a junior journalism student at the University of Georgia. I have possessed a deep love for sports my entire life, and I have played volleyball for the last seven years. I am an avid watcher and consumer of sports media across a wide variety of sports, basketball particularly being my favorite. Likewise, this passion played a major role in me choosing UGA.
I aspire to pursue a career in sports media and broadcasting. At the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, I have the opportunity to intertwine sports with my journalism studies as I intend to study within the Sports Media Certificate program. In addition to sports, I have been able to diversify my scope of studies through taking variety of courses. As a result of taking AP Environmental Science during my junior year of high school, my interest in environmental studies piqued and increased greatly after taking an Ecology course during a past semester. It brings me great pleasure to learn more as I pursue sustainability for my beat this semester.
When I'm not doing any of the above, I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, and spending quality time with loved ones. My favorite music genre is R&B and my current favorite artists are Snoh Aalegra, Mariah The Scientist, and Jordan Ward.
