Welcome to the Student Newspaper, the Broncos Stampede. A publication for students-by students.
There have been many changes to our school newspaper over the years. Our biggest change is the method in which we deliver the school news. For decades the Broncos Stampede Newspaper was the sole genre of connecting our students and community through news and updates regarding all that is happening ion Broncos Nation. These days, we get most of our news and instant updates available through websites, electronic notifications, and on social media apps.
Many corporate publishers have also seen their editions in physical print go by the wayside. These changes have been driven by changes and improvements in technology. The meteoric rise of social media has also contributed to the way we as a society choose to receive our information. With each advancement, we now access most of our information with a single touch of a screen or mouse on our handheld devices and computers.
It is no secret that there have been many cuts in state funding to schools. One of the ways we are helping our district meet these challenges, become more fiscally responsible and more eco-friendly, is to evolve into an online newspaper. Since 2017, this change and adaptation has saved our district many thousands of dollars in printing costs alone of the paper version of the Stampede Newspaper.
There is no doubt that there is something to be said for the tactile feel of holding onto a newsprint in your hands. It's nostalgic, connect us with our past, and feels familiar. Although it makes us more comfortable to stay with what was "past practice", change can be inevitable. One of the responsibilities we have as educators is to keep up with the changes in our society and technology. We model forward progress to help prepare our students for the future and give them the tools to succeed.
In order to keep up with these changing times we feel the E-Stampede will give us the opportunity to help our district succeed in these economically challenging times and provide our students the opportunity to tell their stories, the stories of Broncos Country, and the same experiences to access and create journalism media in a similar manner that they will be required to do so in their lives and careers beyond high school.
Thank you for your support,
