What is it?

This is an international scientific event that will take place from May 4 to 8, 2026 at the Department of Mathematics (DMA) of the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV).

Over five days, the event will offer a diverse program, including advanced lectures, short courses, and research presentations in different areas of pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and mathematics education which will be conducted in three languages: Portuguese, Spanish, and English. The participation of national and international researchers is expected, which will contribute to strengthening dialogue among different scientific communities and consolidating academic cooperation networks.

Special Activities

As part of the special program, on May 6, the date on which the National Day of Mathematics is celebrated in Brazil, the DMA and the Graduate Program in Mathematics will host the sub-event “Celebração do Dia Nacional da Matemática II”, with an emphasis on outreach and the popularization of mathematics.

This sub-event will feature a Mathematics Fair "Feira Matemática Para Todos", open to the community, where school teams from the region will present projects and compete for awards. The fair will seek to present, in an accessible and interactive way, different areas of mathematical research and their applications, as well as publicize the department’s outreach activities and programs such as OBMEP (the Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad for Public Schools).

Also, This year, inspired by the “Integration Bee,” a renowned competition held at the MIT since 1981, we are organizing a similar competition on 04/05 in which participants solve integrals and the top three finalists will receive medals.
