Glider Testing and modifications.
With a partner, conduct final test flights with your glider. You only get 3 competition flights. NO modifications may be made once your begin, only repairs. Record your data in the activity handout or your engineering notebook.
After you complete your testing, transfer all rubric scores and flight test score to this spreadsheet.

Where do YOU want to fly today? Pick a global airport and fly to a new location. You MUST fly a Cessna aircraft and gain practice using your instruments. You want to be sure to fly as direct of a route as possible in order to conserve fuel. Do NOT speed up the program as that reduces the "real feel" of the simulator.
Go to PLTW and open activity 1.3.8 Flight Simulator Introduction
Go to the the Colorado Springs Municipal Airport and select runway 35R 10NM out from the runway.
Hit "P" on the keyboard to pause the simulation and note the instruments and their values.
Airspeed, Attitude, Altimeter, Slip and Roll, Heading, Vertical Speed.
Unpause the simulation and decrease your altitude and airspeed to prepare to land at KCOS.
Once you've landed, setup your VOR radio to KDEN "TO", and KCOS "FROM" and fly to Denver International airport.
Trim out your aircraft so that it flies level and toward the heading you desire.

Practice scenario - You heard there is a stranded group of hikers in the mountains and you have been tasked by the Civil Air Patrol to fly over their last known location in order to spot the group. If (when) you find them you must find a safe place to land and rescue the group.
Go to the App/Play Store and download the app "Coordinates - GPS Formatter"
We will also take a Flight Simulator Practical tomorrow where each of you will have to fly from one location to another. I will provide you with the origin and destination locations. You will be required to use the VOR system to fly the most direct route in the shortest amount of time at a specific altitude.

Go outside and draw a map of an area to create a Flight Plan. Then locate at least 5 waypoints along your selected route.
Groups will switch Flight Plans and test how well they can complete the others Flight Plan.
