Student-led Academic Peer Study (SLAPS) was founded in Fall 2023 as a simple 20-mentor program under Florida Engineering Society. After a semester of planning by the FES Service Chairs, SLAPS held its first semester of full mentorship in Spring 2024, holding classes only for General Chemistry, Calculus, Biology, and Physics. Since then SLAPS has expanded its outreach to classes that mentors offer to teach, though eventually it will cover most (if not all) general education coursework.

SLAPS officially parted ways with FES in Fall 2025 to become its own fully-fledged General Registered Student Organization (GRSO) under UF Student Government. With imminent plans to become a University-Sponsored Student Organization, SLAPS aims to become fully immersed with the University of Florida and a widespread, accessible resource to undergraduate students.

SLAPS is nothing without its Mentors, partnerships, and collaborations. We would like to formally give credit to anyone who has participated in SLAPS or helped its progress. See SLAPS's current associations below.
