Pesticide licensing in Florida can be confusing and it may be difficult to determine which license/certification you need and how to obtain a license/certification. All pesticide licensing and certification in Florida is managed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). This site will address Chapter 482, Structural Pest Control in the categories of Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance and Limited Lawn and Ornamental. The first confusing fact is that the categories are referred to as certifications rather than licenses.
The site will provide information and materials designed to enhance exam review classes. I also highly recommend using the study materials listed under each certification type to study for the exam.

Description
Required for landscape maintenance contractors applying pesticides to their customer’s property.
Sometimes referred to as RoundUp license.
Allows the licensed applicator to apply herbicides, fungicides and insecticides to ornamental plant beds and shrubs.
Products are limited to "Caution", general use labels only (applications of restricted use products are not permitted).
Applications are limited to ornamental plant beds & shrubs. Applications to turf areas and storm water ponds are not permitted.
Application equipment is limited to backpack sprayers having no more than a 5-gallon capacity and handheld 3-gallon compressed air “pump-up” sprayers. Powered equipment is prohibited.
Each individual applicator must be licensed.
Requirements
Requires a passing grade (75%) on the exam.
Exam/license fee $150.
Criminal background check.
Proof of insurance Bodily injury: $250,000 each person and $500,000 each occurrence; and property damage $250,000 each occurrence and $500,000 in the aggregate; or combined single limit coverage of $500,000 in the aggregate.

Description
For employees applying pesticides on private property (in-house maintenance crews, apartments, condos, etc.) and employees of government agencies who make pesticide applications to turf and ornamental areas of the property.
License is applicable only to employer property.
Allows the licensed applicator to apply herbicides, fungicides and insecticides to plant beds, shrubs & turfgrass.
Restricted use products may be used.
Powered equipment is allowed.
Each individual applicator must be licensed.

To be eligible to take an exam you must apply to FDACS to take the exam and receive a voucher number. The voucher number is used to schedule the exam at a UF/IFAS Extension office. Applying and scheduling can done through the website below.
UF/IFAS Extension Pesticide Certification Exams
Select Apply for Examination, then Structural/Residential Pest Control/Chapter 482, and then Exam SignUp. Follow the prompts to fill in the requested information select the appropriate exam and pay the exam fee of $150. You will need to have your drivers license number. When you have completed the process, you will be issued a Voucher Number.
Select Schedule Examination, then enter your last name and voucher number to select the County, date and time for an exam. You will receive an email confirmation for the exam schedule.
