Hi! My name is Jessica Brakaj, and I am a fourth-year biochemistry major on the pre-medical track at the University of Florida. My research focuses on the synthesis of kavalactones and testing kavalactone stability in mouse liver microsome cells to investigate how their structural differences affect metabolic stability and bioavailability. This work has sparked my interest in how natural products can be optimized for therapeutic use.
