In 4‑H, we believe in the power of young people. We see that every child has valuable strengths and real influence to improve the world around us.
What is 4‑H? 4‑H is delivered by Cooperative Extension—a community of more than 100 public universities across the nation that provides experiences where young people learn by doing. For more than 100 years, 4‑H has welcomed young people of all beliefs and backgrounds, giving kids a voice to express who they are and how they make their lives and communities better.
Through life-changing 4‑H programs, nearly six million kids and teens have taken on critical societal issues, such as addressing community health inequities, engaging in civil discourse and advocating for equity and inclusion for all.
The four H's represent our core values:
Head: managing, thinking.
Heart: relating, caring.
Hands: giving, working.
Health: being, living.
4-H Motto: "To make the best better." And that's what we try and do for youth involved and to have them do for any activities which they are involved.
4-H Slogan: "Learn by Doing". We don't "talk at" youth. We have them learn by actually trying out the activities that they are learning about.
4-H Colors: Green and White.
I pledge my head to clearer thinking,
My heart to greater loyalty,
My hands to larger service,
and my health to better living,
for my club, my community, my country, and my world.
Prometo usar mi mente para pensar con más claridad,
mi corazón para ser más leal,
mis manos para ser más servicial,
mi salud para cuidarme más,
por mi club, mi comunidad, mi país y mi mundo.

For 7000 years, corn has been an important agricultural crop, for food, fuel and fiber. Early people of Central America, Native Americans and early European settlers were thrifty and found ways to make use of everything available to them. Corn and corn by-products were often used to make a variety of items. Seed corn was tested by youth in schools to create the very first 4-H Clubs in 1902.
4-H is all over the state of Florida. Use this map to help youth to identify where in Florida they are participating and where else 4-H is in the state of Florida.
