The University of Delaware National Agri-Marketing Association student chapter (NAMA) is part of the largest association for professionals in marketing and agribusiness. UD students enroll in APEC 412 to participate in the national competition.
Founded in 1970, NAMA itself has grown to 33 accredited chapters and more than 1,100 students. The success of NAMA is directly related to the benefits it offers its students!
Each year, we as a NAMA student chapter travel to the annual NAMA conference to participate in the student marketing competition. In addition to developing their marketing skills, students gain exposure in the business community and experience working as a part of a marketing team.

Participation in NAMA provides career opportunities and hands-on applications of knowledge gained from coursework. Students build a business proposal and marketing plan for a novel food or agribusiness product created by the team. The business proposition is presented to agribusiness professionals from various corporations at the national competition.
Students on the NAMA team enroll in APEC 412 which fulfills the UD discovery learning requirement and three credits of coursework (one in the fall and two in the spring).
Weekly class meetings are full of rich experience and collaboration with other team members. UD NAMA has guest speakers who provide insight on a variety of topics like marketing, career development, and interview techniques. Team meetings are centered around group work, allowing students to get creative with their marketing plan.
