Newark, Delaware - On December 1, 2016, scholarship recipients were brought together with their donors to share their stories and express their gratitude.
The annual luncheon, organized by Delaware Tech's Development Office, is a way for donors to see first-hand the impact their donations have on students' lives. Four students shared their personal stories during the reception, with the common theme of overcoming struggle to work toward a brighter future.
According to Criminal Justice student Scott Williams, "This scholarship is not just about the money. It means that someone believes in me and sees my potential."
Donors and students, as well as Delaware Tech faculty and staff, enjoyed a meal prepared by the Culinary Arts students as they networked and shared their mutual appreciation.
"Donating to Delaware Tech is the best thing I've done," said R. Jeffrey (Jeff) Johnson, a primary donor for the Nancy Edwards Johnson '96 Memorial Endowment for Nursing Students, "I wish I had done it sooner. No matter how little you can donate, you will make a difference in someone's life."
