Hydrate your brown pellet by submerging it in water and watch it grow!
Ensure the side with the small inner circle is facing up and place a few seeds in the shallow hole created by the inner circle.
Place the pellet in a container and cover loosely with a transparent lid or plastic wrap to create a humid environment.
After a few days to a week, the seed(s) will germinate! If growing a head lettuce, pluck out any extra seedlings so just one remains. If growing herbs, no need to pluck!
Assembling your hydroponic system!
Grab a standard-mouth mason jar or any recycled jar with a 2 in diameter. Paint the exterior or wrap in foil to block sunlight from passing through (or else algae will consumer the nutrients instead of your plant!)
Separate the capsule halves and empty the fertilizer into the jar.
Fill the jar until the bottleneck with room temperature to warm tap water
Place your seedling in the net cup, ensuring the base of the pellet is making contact with the bottom of the net cup.
Secure the net cup with the jar's ring
Place your jar in a sunny windowsill (south facing) and ideally under a source of supplemental lighting like a desk lamp (the more watts the better!)
