Have you joined our AWS AI & ML Community yet?
If you're a high school or college student, over the age of 16, and you're interested in a career in artificial intelligence (Al) and machine learning (ML), this scholarship program is for you.
The Amazon Web Services Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Scholarship program aims to help students underrepresented and underserved in tech to learn foundational machine learning concepts as they prepare for a career in one of today’s hottest and fastest-growing fields.
February 1 - May 31 2023: AWS Al & ML Scholarship applications open on Udacity’s website (Summer cohort)
May 31, 2023: Last day to complete prerequisites on the AWS DeepRacer Student website to earn Summer cohort scholarship access on Udacity
June 14, 2023: AWS Al & ML Scholarship Nanodegree Program 1 opens (Summer cohort)
October 15, 2023: AWS Al & ML Scholarship Nanodegree Program 1 ends (Summer cohort)
The AWS AI & ML Scholarship Program, in collaboration with Udacity, is an AI/ML-focused scholarship program providing 2500 scholarships over 2023, as well as mentorship to students that identify as underserved and underrepresented in technology.
The program aims to make the future tech workforce more diverse by removing financial barriers, providing training for careers in tech, and offering mentorship support to individuals who are underserved or underrepresented in tech.
Phase 1: Enroll in AWS DeepRacer Student, where students can access 20 hours of AWS Al & ML content at launch, receive 10 hours of model training, and 5 GB of storage per month to participate in the AWS DeepRacer Student League. Be sure to opt into the Al & ML Scholarship to begin the application prerequisites.
Phase 2: Udacity will then award 2,000 students with a scholarship for the Udacity Al Programming with the Python Nanodegree program (1,000 in a summer cohort and 1,000 in a winter cohort). All 2,000 students will have the opportunity to attend monthly virtual mentoring events with industry experts. This four-month course teaches the foundational skills for obtaining a career in Al & ML, in a collaborative virtual class environment with mentorship from Udacity, Amazon, and Intel advisors.
Phase 3: All graduates from the winter and summer cohorts will be invited to take an assessment. The 500 students with the highest score on the assessment will earn a second Udacity Nanodegree Program Scholarship to help further prepare them for a career in artificial intelligence and machine learning. Additionally, the top 500 students in the AWS Al & ML Scholarship program will have access to one-to-one mentorship opportunities from tenured machine learning experts from Amazon, Intel and other institutions to provide career advice for 12 months.
Students will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects designed by industry experts to build their portfolio of skills, and learn one of four core skills sets to prepare them for a career in a job of the future.
You should maintain the same email address you used to apply for the Program for the duration of your entire course in order to maintain eligibility for this Nanodegree program.
Students who fail to graduate will not be able to participate again. Individuals are only eligible for one Nanodegree across the duration of this program. As such, make sure to sign up only if you are willing and able to commit to learning and graduating within the allotted time frame of the program.
Every time you submit a project, you will receive personalized feedback on your project submission from one of our expert human project reviewers. They will not only tell you what you got right and wrong but they will also provide some guidance on what you should try next and give suggestions on how you can go even further with your project. Once your review is ready, you will get an email notification which you can follow to the review. There are three results for the review:
Meets Specifications: This means you passed your project as you met all requirements.
Requires Changes: This means that you failed your project. However, the reviewer will highlight which part that requires to be edited so that you pass the project on to your next submission. You can resubmit your project again after editing it through your classroom.
Ungradeable: This means that the reviewer was not able to grade your project. This could be because you either submitted the wrong files or the files submitted can not be opened because they are in an unsupported format. You can resubmit your project again from your classroom after addressing these issues.
Yes, you will have indefinite static access to the content after you graduate from your Nanodegree. Static access will include classroom content that will not be updated over time. Such access will not include access to projects that were not previously submitted, as well as certain services, such as community channels, project reviews, workspaces, labs, or quizzes. Also, please note that learners will lose access to the content if they fail to finish within the Nanodegree's deadline.
We have a dedicated Slack Student Community where you can ask questions, get answers, and find support from your peers, student advocates, and Udacity staff. Once you've joined this community, be sure to visit the Slack channels to find resources that will help you complete your Program course material and prepare for the Certificate Assessment
You can always reach out to your Session lead on Slack. They can answer your questions, point you to helpful resources, and give you guidance to complete the program successfully. Your Session Lead is there to help you successfully navigate your Nanodegree straight through from enrollment to graduation.
Make sure to follow the program schedule presented in your classroom and you will be well on your way to graduating from your Nanodegree Program on time. However, if you do not make sufficient progress within the first month of your program, you risk being "Revoked", or removed, from the program. The criteria you must meet in order to avoid being revoked include submitting one project or completing the classroom concepts (video lessons) as indicated in your program schedule by July 14th, 2023 of your program.
