FR1DAY (7/26)
We presented our first adventure games! Although all the adventure games were spectacular, Monkey’s Mushroom Journey by Nick and Sophie won the faculty choice award! Slime Quest also won the student choice award while Gina and James won the student choice! After lunch, we split up into our final project groups, coding the rest of the day away to prepare for next week’s final presentation.
At night, we had a whole-camp movie night where we watched Inside Out 2 (not the second 😭)! We enjoyed watching [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] experience the thrills of [REDACTED] while [REDACTED]! Oh, and we all collectively clapped when the movie buffered for the umpteenth time. Fun!

SATURDAY (7/27)
Nothing much happened during the day. Just a well-deserved break from the upcoming stress of the next week.
Our nightly activity, however, was much more exciting: a carnival featuring classic carnival and tabletop games! Much like previous activities, each game could give you a certain amount of tickets which could be entered into another raffle drawing! Enjoy our pictures :D

Another chill day, until...
THE UNDER THE SEA DANCE! 💃
While we expected it to be a more "traditional" dance, it very quickly evolved into a hardcore rave featuring ring lights and one of our own cluster RAs as a DJ! Trust us, it was SUPER energetic and can't really be described unless you were there...
Toward the end, dance royalty was announced per cluster! And who better to represent Cluster 13 than our very own newsletter staff Kathleen Li and Justin Wong!!! We're so proud of them 😇

M0NDAY (7/29)
Throughout the day, we worked tirelessly to get our final projects rolling. Groups were mostly working on their GUIs (Graphical User Interface) and creating the terrain for their games. Each group came up with their own creative final game to work on for the rest of the week. Stay tuned for the final projects!
At night, we were treated with yet another full-camp activity: the talent show! An opportunity to show COSMOS our unique talents. There were a few acts involving Cluster 13 members, including a guitar song by James and a comedy routine by Justin Wong. WOOOOOO

TUESDAY (7/30)
Another day of working on our final projects! We continued with designing and debugging our games with the help of our wonderful and amazing CAs. Many of the groups have moved on and started on programming the game mechanics! #workinghard

WEDNESDAY (7/31)
Today, Leo gave us 2 fascinating lectures on computer hardware and computer science education. He dissected topics such as imposter syndrome in CS major students, successful study habits, and other professors chipped in with their own stories of being in college and interactions with students they’ve had. The overall advice was to stay on top of schoolwork and ask for help so we don’t fall behind (a familiar reminder, but still a good one).
After that, we continued working on finishing up our games, as they were due at the end of class...

THURSDAY (8/1)
This morning we worked on making the presentations that our families will be seeing tomorrow. As this was the last full day of COSMOS, the TA’s coordinated making a groupchat for all of us to stay in touch. We spent the afternoon doing run throughs of our presentations. We can’t wait for all of you to see our games!
(also, it started raining. bittersweet.)
