FR1DAY (7/19)
Today was the critters tournament! Each critter competed ferociously in the battlefield for survival. However, only one could dominate the rest: the menacing Hamster by Justin, Nick, and Baixuan. The hamster dominated every critter, ranging from Greg, Kevin Dragon, Dissected Blobfish, and Olivia.Â
After lunch, a special surprise awaited us. We were greeted by the TAs who sent us on a daring quest around Jacob’s Hall to find six swords that laid in the classroom caverns. We split into groups in hopes of completing the quests faster. From solving binary to bargaining with TA Gio, we persevered through the TAs’ challenges and were brought together to defeat the ultimate boss: Kevin. We swung our swords, threw grenades (balls), and played red light green light to defeat him once and for all. However, this was not the last quest of our endeavors. The next week would be full of challenges and adventures with our next game to make—an open-world RPG.
After class, many of our beloved clustermates left for Family Weekend... they will be missed... 🪦 (jk they'll be back Sunday)
As for the rest of us, we not only enjoyed a less crowded Cafe V, but we also got to watch Across the Spider-Verse - popcorn and candy included! (great movie btw, heavily recommend 👍)

SUNDAY (7/21)
Not much to say about Sunday - mostly just another chill break from the hubbub of the past week. We DID, however, not only get our dearly departed COSMOS campers back, we also had a presentation from the Admissions team about what it takes to get into UCSD!
The big highlight, was, of course, CASINO NIGHT!!! We got our first taste of the thrill of gambling (and the associated disappointment when you lose $2k due to a bad play - please don't gamble 🙏). We also had a ehem drawing* featuring prizes like an Aang plush and a ukulele!
*legally speaking, it is NOT a raffle. i repeat, NOT a raffle.

M0NDAY (7/22)
We got to do another round of trivia by Leo Porter! This time, it was much harder, and out of 30 questions, nobody got above 20. After that, we were introduced to our next project– making an adventure game. This genre involves having an open world with a storyline. Players can explore and complete a range of things from puzzles, quests, and combat. We got to work brainstorming the themes of our games, the plot, gameplay mechanics, and more.Â
Back by popular demand: Just Dance! You love to see it.

TUESDAY (7/23)
Aside from working on our games, we set aside some time to make a proposal for what we want to make for our next project. Instead of being given a theme, we get to make any type of game we want, given that it meets enough requirements to get approved by the instructors. We’re excited to show you what we make next week!
Nothing much to say about Res Life, really. Moving on.
