Code.org San Diego
Partnership between: CREATE at UC San Diego & Code.org
Program Information
CREATE at UC San Diego is excited to continue our offerings of CS Principles and CS Discoveries Summer Professional Learning Programs! These programs are highly supportive to prepare both experienced and novice educators with high-quality computer science instruction. The Summer of CS program includes:
A five-day summer workshop, which will fully prepare educators to utilize Code.org curricula (CS Discoveries and CS Principles) and teacher support systems.
Four one-day academic year workshops during the school year when teachers will reconvene for ongoing training and just-in-time support.
Additional opportunities for online and face-to-face networking and collaboration with peers throughout the year.
Full scholarships are available for teachers in schools with high underserved student populations, thanks to generous support from Code.org!
Whether teachers are new to computer science (CS) or have experience teaching other CS courses, this program promotes growth by providing space for teachers to become comfortable with curricular materials, CS content, and pedagogy. Learn more about Code.org's Professional Learning training here.
Why Schools Need More Quality Computer Science Education
Every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science.
Computer science teaches students foundational 21st-century knowledge — skills that will open doors in every field, in every state.
Computer science is about logic, problem-solving, collaboration and creativity. Students gain an opportunity to take part in creating technology that will solve problems in their communities and in the world.
