The Speakers

Lynne Talley

Lynne Talley is a physical oceanographer at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. She is a leading expert in large-scale circulation of water masses in the global ocean.

Dhruv Balwada

Dhruv Balwada is an assistant professor at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University.  He specializes in ocean turbulance, using machine learning tools to parameterize turbulence in climate models.

Sharon Stammerjohn

Sharon Stammerjohn is a senior research associate at the University of Colorado Boulder.  She is a Polar oceanography who uses interdisciplinary approaches to understanding environmental and ecosystem response to climate variability.

Ethan Campbell

Ethan is a PhD candidate in the School of Oceanography at the University of Washington. His research focuses on using observations of the ice-covered Southern Ocean to develop a better understanding of sea ice processes and offshore polynyas around Antarctica, as well as their role in global climate.

Carlos Moffat

Carlos Moffat is a Physical Oceanographer at the School of Marine Sciences & Policy, University of Delaware. His research interests span a number of topics in coastal oceanography, including glacier-ocean interactions, buoyancy-driven flows, the influence of bottom topographic features on coastal circulation, and inner-shelf processes in upwelling systems.

Jamin Greenbaum

Jamin Greenbaum is a researcher at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. He specializes in glacier sensitivity to rapid inland retreat, geophysical techniques to improve subglacial boundary conditions, and understanding ice-ocean interactions.
