SE 171 Aerospace Structures Repair
Description of Course
Aerospace structures can be damaged from a variety of sources. Continued usages of these structures is a safety and economics-based decision that drives the need for repair technologies and repair design methodologies.
The SE 171 course reviews the methods used to join and repair aerospace structures. Particular emphasis of this course is on primary load-bearing airframe structures and the analysis methods used to design and substantiate repairs.
Hands-On Lab Experiences
The laboratory sessions for SE 171 give students the experience within the following aerospace structure repair methods:
Adhesively Bonded Joints
Bolted/Mechanically-Fastened Joints
Multi-Row Joints
The labs give students the opportunity to manufacture specimens using aerospace joining procedures and tests to assess their workmanship and analysis.
