Abstract: Large foundation models and agentic AI have the potential to transform the modeling, operation, and optimization of future power grids. This panel will explore how Agentic AI can be harnessed to address core challenges in the grid—ranging from proactive load management and electric vehicle scheduling to automatic control of the grid and enhanced situation awareness. The discussion will highlight how large language models (LLM) and Agentic AI integrate reasoning, planning, and interaction with the physical world to address complex power and energy system challenges.

Panelists will examine both the opportunities and challenges of developing and deploying Agentic AI in power systems, including its potential to improve forecasting quality, situational awareness, and enhance operational efficiency, while also raising pressing concerns around maintaining reliability, ensuring cybersecurity, and mitigating hallucination to strengthen trust. By bringing together researchers and experts across academic, national labs, and industry, this panel aims to chart a roadmap for how Agentic AI can shape the future of intelligent, resilient, and secure energy infrastructures.
