We will be using Slack, a channel-based messaging platform, to facilitate communication among prospective students, current students, and faculty during UCSD's NGP Virtual Interview Week. We ask that all prospective students join the Slack Workspace by the start of Interview Week. Use the directions below to get started. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or issues with Slack.
The link for Slack was emailed. If you need the link or have trouble accessing the NGP Program Slack please email: neurograd@ucsd.edu
Visit slack.com/downloads/ and get the app for your computer or tablet (phones not recommended). Alternatively, you can use Slack in a web browser (slack.com).
Edit your profile by clicking on the profile button on the top right. Please add a profile picture and your pronouns if you feel comfortable. Add key words about your research interests in the “What I Do” section.
Introduce yourself and read through the other intros in #introductions
Explore the channels and engage with other prospective students, current students, and faculty.
To reply and start a PUBLIC message thread, hover over a message and click on the speech bubble icon.
You can also click on anyone’s name to open their profile and send them a PRIVATE direct message. To start a message thread with multiple people, you can click on either of the two circled buttons on the left side of Slack. Simply type the names of the people you want to start a private conversation with, and press send!
