Welcome to the Eco-Outdoors Club at UCSD website!

We look forward to hearing from prospective members!

Our Statement of Purpose:

The Eco-Outdoors Club at UCSD aims to promote outdoor recreation, education about local ecology, and opportunities for environmental activism. The purpose of the club is to provide members with accessible outdoor activities, opportunities to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural environment, and engage in efforts to promote ecological conservation.

In addition to promoting outdoor activities, the Eco-Outdoors Club at UCSD will educate members about local ecology and opportunities for environmental activism. Members will learn about the local ecosystem, as well as efforts to protect and preserve it. The club will also provide opportunities for members to participate in environmental advocacy and volunteer work.

The Eco-Outdoors Club at UCSD recognizes the benefits of spending time in nature for mental health and well-being. By encouraging members to spend time outdoors, the club hopes to provide an outlet for stress relief, personal growth, and improved mental health.

Finally, the club recognizes the growing concern about climate change and its impact on the planet. The Eco-Outdoors Club at UCSD hopes to alleviate climate anxiety and promote sustainable living practices through education and community engagement. A statement of Anti-Racism: we recognize the effect that racial discrimination has played in excluding marginalized communities from access to the outdoors. Whether it be the redlining of communities throughout and after the Jim-Crow era, the disinvestment of communities of color, or the increasing amount of air-polluting industries emerging in minority areas, it is readily apparent that green space and accessibility to the natural environment is exclusionary. In this club, we will work to address this inequality by making our club open to all people, addressing injustices faced at specific sites, and actively working with students of color to make sure we provide a welcoming and supportive environment.
