Opening for Postdoctoral scholar:
Postdoctoral Scholar Opportunity (2-year position)
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic, recently graduated Postdoctoral Scholar to join the Cyphert research group at UC San Diego Shu Chien-Gene Lay Department of Bioengineering (https://cyphertlab.ucsd.edu/) for a 2-year position with a start date as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will work on a project funded by the Office of Naval Research to fabricate antifouling marine coatings and will have opportunities to develop independent research and collaborate across disciplines (microbiology, materials science). Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States by the start date, visa sponsorship is not available at this time for this position.
We are looking for someone with:
· A PhD in microbiology or materials science and engineering
· Experience in microbial culture and sequencing, metabolomics, bioinformatics, and/or synthetic biology
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
This position is based at UC San Diego in La Jolla, California.

Ph.D./Master's Students

We are looking for students with backgrounds in either polymer chemistry/materials science/organic chemistry, microbiology, or microbiome/bioinformatics. If you are interested in joining the group, please contact Dr. Cyphert (ecyphert@ucsd.edu) with your CV and brief statement of your prior training and description of interests for our group.
We are not currently looking for any PhD students.
Undergraduate students

We are always looking for passionate and dedicated undergraduate students that are interested in gaining research experience (no prior experience necessary).
