Ph.D./Master's Students
We are not currently looking for any PhD students. We are actively looking to recruit Master's students to start Fall 2025. Please see below the instructions required to submit an application to the department: https://bioengineering.ucsd.edu/grad/prospective-students.Â
We are looking for students with backgrounds in either polymer chemistry/materials science/organic chemistry, microbiology, or microbiome/bioinformatics. If you are interested in joining the group, please contact Dr. Cyphert (ecyphert@ucsd.edu) with your CV and brief statement of your prior training and description of interests for our group.
Undergraduate students
We are always looking for passionate and dedicated undergraduate students that are interested in gaining research experience (no prior experience necessary). If you are interested in pursuing research related to polymer chemistry/materials science/organic chemistry, microbiology, or microbiome/bioinformatics, please email Dr. Cyphert (ecyphert@ucsd.edu) with a copy of your resume, unofficial transcript, and brief paragraph describing your research interests and how they align with the group.
Visiting Researchers
As an alum of international research exchange programs, Dr. Cyphert is very passionate about hosting international visiting researchers in the group. Please email Dr. Cyphert (ecyphert@ucsd.edu) if you are interested in opportunities such as a Fulbright Fellowship (https://fulbright.edu.pl/grants-for-polish-citizens/ ; https://marie-sklodowska-curie-actions.ec.europa.eu/funding) or other international award mechanisms with your CV and brief description of your prior training and research interests related to our group.
Postdoctoral Associates
We are not currently looking for any Postdoctoral Associates at this time. If you are a postdoctoral candidate and you are interested in joining the group through fellowship opportunities (NIH F32, etc.), please email Dr. Cyphert (ecyphert@ucsd.edu) with a copy of your CV and the following information:

2) Research interests as a postdoc and how they align with the interests of the Lab of Microbial Therapeutics
