Class attendance (being on time and present in the class): You are expected to arrive by 9:30 AM.

Project:
- Select a topic and a small set of papers . Consider the topics suggested in the reading list as a starting point. You are free to selecte topics not mentioned in the reading list. Determine who you are going to team with. We encourage teams of two students.
- Make an entry in the spreadsheet about your topic, team and papers. If you do not have a teammate, you can make your entry in the spreadsheet and indicate that you are looking for teammates.
- Meet with the instructor and/or TA as soon as possible to get feedback and approval for the project. Instructor/TA will schedule your presentation after discussing with you. You should have your first meeting with the instructor/TA by January 25th.
- Write a report in an expository or tutorial style (consider Professor Graham Neubig's tutorial as a role model). Write-up should be submitted at least three days before the presentation day. We may relax the requirements for those presenting during the sixth week.
- Present in class (15 minutes)
- Guidelines for the paper and the presentation
  - Define the problem studied.
  - Make it concrete with examples
  - Motviate the problem and present the background
  - Explain the significance of the problem.
  - Present the results
  - Present the experimental setup and methods
  - Critique the results
