Our Team created a Gannt chart to be able to properly manage such a multi-complex project. We focused enhancing and optimizing our electrochemical protocol before focusing on pairing our software with our hardware.
Throughout the development and optimization of our electrochemical biosensor, we have gained so many skills in the course of project's. One of the key skills acquired is the ability to conduct extensive literature reviews, which laid the groundwork for our understanding and approach, ensuring our design was informed by the latest scientific insights.
Constructing and optimizing a functional protocol enabled us to effectively navigate the complexities of biochemical and electrochemical processes. Electrochemical protocol optimization. Such as using the appropriate materials for surface functionalization. As well as proper blocking agents such as MCH and DTT we had to make sure the electrochemical blocking agent would not modify the chemical composition as well as not affect the probe attachment. Optimizing our medical device required troubleshooting software and hardware issues with the PalmSens potentiostat, deepening our understanding of the equipment and enhancing our problem-solving skills.
We also developed our analytical capabilities through intricate chemical reaction derivations and molarity/concentration calculations, crucial for managing the delicate balance of reagents necessary for successful DNA hybridization and sensor functionalization. Handling DNA with precision, accurately plotting data, and analyzing graphs for meaningful insights have significantly contributed to our technical proficiency. Additionally, presenting our work progress to mentors and addressing their inquiries with detail and accuracy has not only improved our communication skills but also our ability to defend and justify our scientific decisions.
Managing multiple steps simultaneously without compromising the quality or accuracy of outcomes demanded exceptional time management and multitasking abilities, a challenging but rewarding aspect of our work. Overall, the skills and knowledge developed through this project extend beyond technical achievements, equipping us with the competence and confidence to tackle similar scientific challenges in the future.
