I was tasked with making a pendulum clock and designing the pendulum and escapement wheel on Fusion 360. I chose to make my pendulum a stingray because I thought it would be cute and it was a symmetrical design. The pallets and escapement wheel were the same for everyone who made the project, but we were given free will for what design to make the pendulum part. Because I chose a symmetrical design, I knew that the center of mass would be in the middle, which made that easier. One of the tradeoffs I made when making my design was that I needed to make the tail of my stingray thicker in order to fit my eight bolt holes along is so that they were 4 inches away from its pivot point, which was one of the requirements. While it made the stingray look slightly off, it helped with the ability to manufacture my design and made sure my clock wouldn't tick too fast.
