For this project, I designed a working clock mechanism with a custom pendulum shaped like an eye. I started by sketching out visual ideas until I had a design I liked, then modeled the pendulum and other components in Autodesk Fusion 360. Once the design was finalized, I calculated how long one full swing of the pendulum (its period) would take using three different methods: a point-mass analysis, a rigid-body analysis, and a simulation using Working Model 2D. After doing all the math, I laser cut and assembled the clock, then measured the real timing of the pendulum to see how close my predictions were.
