During my junior year, I was tasked with budgeting and researching rules for a pickleball league, which has now turned into a regular program at UCSC. This opportunity me allowed me to not only lead a project from start to finish, but obtain an experience that I know I will use in campus recreation.
In my time as an External Vice President for MEDLIFE, I helped coordinate travel for our service learning trip during spring break. This helped me get creative with outreach, as well as use my organizational skills to make sure everything was set for the trip. This also aligns with my goal of wanting to learn more about student development because I oversaw a few students who helped coordinate the trip, which are transferable skills for my future career.
This was a global fund proposal project for my Global Politics course. I suggested doing mobile clinics in Nicaragua to help with preventive care, especially for sexually transmitted diseases. This project was inspired by the Service Learning Trips I have taken with MEDLIFE. I had to do background research, but I think with this project, I invested much time and took from my experiences. It allowed me to develop my proposal writing skills that can be transferable when I write policy proposals for education iniatives.
