The PDP has benefited from the contributions of a significant number of developers and instructors since its inception in 2001. A full list of these contributors can be found here. Below, we highlight the instructors and staff who are most involved in planning and running the 2026 PDP.
Anne is the Director of the PDP and the Director of Lick Observatory College Partnerships at University of California Observatories. She is also closely affiliated with the Institute for Scientist & Engineer Educators (ISEE). Anne has been involved in the PDP since its inception in 2001 and held many roles on the PDP instructor-developer team before taking on the directorship of the program. Anne has been a key author on several PDP publications, including co-editing two volumes of papers on the PDP. She also leads the ASTRAL consortium of San Francisco Bay Area community colleges and California State University campuses that collaborate with Lick Observatory for college-level astronomy education and training opportunities. Anne has a doctorate in astronomy and astrophysics and has many years of teaching experience at the college level.
Candice is the Assistant Director of the Institute for Scientist & Engineer Educators (ISEE). She began her work with ISEE as a consultant for the Center for Adaptive Optics (CfAO) education and professional development initiatives. She was an early developer of the PDP, and has been a member of the PDP development and instructional team for many years, serving as the Director of the PDP in 2023-25. Candice works on the development and implementation of other ISEE and UC Observatories programs like AstroTech and ASTRAL consortium activities. Since 2015, Nicole has coordinated a wide range of events that advance the programmatic goals of the Institute for Scientist & Engineer Educators (ISEE). She manages the logistics for workshops, symposia, retreats, conferences, and other activities, both on and off campus, and serves as the primary point of contact for participants from registration through wrap-up. In addition to event coordination, Nicole facilitates ISEE’s application and selection processes and provides core administrative support, including scheduling, travel reimbursements, and procurement. She is a full-time ISEE staff member within the University of California Observatories.
