We have developed a method to effectively harvest electrical power from cactuses.
Using an energy harvesting IC, the TI BQ25570, the power from a cactus system is stored in a supercapacitor to thus be discharged to a low power device (1.8V, 110mA).
Here is a video displaying the function of this method with an 8 cactus system generating 60μW:
