- This website: this site will function as a home base outside of the seminar room. Please check for any updates on the course schedule. I will email everyone if there are any substantial updates to the content of the course.
- The College Nine Reader (available at the Bay Tree Bookstore)
- An online subscription to any reliable news source with a print edition. Some recommended sources are the following. (You will be reading this news source weekly.)
- An activated library account: Please go to McHenry Library to activate your account if you have not already done so. (You may be required to access materials that are owned by the library, and once you activate your account, you will be able to use materials for your other courses and to access your account when not on campus.)
- Printed copies of all reading assignments not provided in the class reader. As a cost-saving measure, not all texts we read will be available in the reader. I expect you to print out physical copies of all necessary articles and essays; to further annotate, underling, mark up the texts; and bring them to class when we are discussing them. Recall that NO computers, tablets, or phones will be allowed during the course, so please plan accordingly.
- A class diary (recommended but not necessary): You will perhaps need a place to record your thoughts on the course readings, transcribe passages, write, generate concept maps or diagrams, etc. Consider this as a place to draw out your thoughts -- maybe by literally drawing -- or writing out thoughts that get repetitively stuck in your head.
