What are the people, ideas, and places that have influenced who you are and how you think? This assignment asks you to write a brief intellectual autobiography by addressing the following questions in one or several paragraphs. This is primarily material to help me understand who you are and where you are coming from. If you would like to include more information that will help me to understand you as a person and an intellectual, please do so. Please provide a word-processed physical copy of the following questions ready to turn in next class. Be sure to edit this assignment for any potential spelling and grammatical errors prior to turning it in.

NOTE: You may format the assignment however you wish: an essay, response to the questions point-by-point, etc. Just ensure that your answers are coherent.

• Where are you from originally? What was your home/home town like?
• What is your favorite area of study? If you don't have a major yet, what are you leaning towards? What were your favorite courses in high school?
• What is your experience with languages other than English? Do you speak any other languages? If so, have you had any formal training in them? Can you write in them? Which language do you prefer to speak?
• Would you consider yourself a "reader"? Do you read novels, the newspaper, non-fiction books? What was the last book or article that left a deep impression on you?
• Describe your previous experience with writing. Do you enjoy it? What kinds of essays did you write in high school or at your previous school?
