Full Spectrum Doula---UCSC Global and Community Health BA
Hi! I'm Lacie (or Lace) and go by she/they pronouns. I am passionate about holistic health, community care, and preserving body autonomy. As a full-spectrum doula and founder of Graceful Transitions Doula Care, I continually improve how to create supportive and empowering spaces for birthing individuals. My job is to ensure my clients feel heard and respected. I put this into action by listening to their excitement and concerns, using touch as a way for pain relief and connection, and sharing my knowledge to ensure they know their options and rights throughout the entirety of their birth experience.
Growing up in the forest, I hold fond memories of running off the bus, throwing my backpack into the driveway and darting to the trees. I spent most of my days observing the way nature communicated with me and the world. I became familiar with my deep, intuitive fire that guided my way day after day. I aim to help people tap into that fire and let it be their guide.
Alongside this work, I serve as the Global and Community Health Communications and Event Coordinator at UCSC. I am currently creating a media kit for our upcoming Health Justice Photo Exhibit and collaborating with various campus departments to increase engagement. I am also leading and creating a series, "The Body Speaks: Immersive Practices in Alternative Medicine." This event series introduces students to alternative medicine and reproductive health through experiential learning. By collaborating with acupuncturists, herbalists, and birth doulas, I designed an immersive series that engages participants in meditation walks, hands-on herbal workshops, and embodied birthwork practices, fostering a deeper understanding of holistic care.
Outside of my professional ambitions, I love hiking, sunbathing, and swimming. I have a vast love for card games and just started knitting my first scarf! My favorite hobby of all is cooking. I love the challenge of trying to create new and delicious dishes. Food is the way to the heart, and it's amazing how food connects us all!
