## KCHS GEAR UP students visited UC Davis on April 11th, 2023. Cohort kids also enjoyed a unique campus tour of UC Davis and had to opportunity to have lunch at Woodstock's Pizza, a popular college hangout. They were able to experience the campus gym and two different bookstores.
Sacramento State Univeristy
On March 7th, 2023, ## students from KCHS were able to experience the "City of Trees's" campus. They had a personalized tour of the EOP program and other programs in the building.
## of students experienced the Cal Poly Pomona campus on March 6th, 2023. Students were able to walk around and get that university vibe as they went through halls along with students at the university.
UC Santa Cruz & Santa Cruz Boardwalk
On September 26th, 2022, 43 students had the opportunity to visit and tour UC Santa Cruz while enjoying the scenic tree filled campus. Students were able to visit the bookstore before leaving the campus to head over to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. A missing student, who will remain nameless, was found safely and had a stern conversation with GEAR UP leadership. He forever will be utilized as a cautionary story of what not to do during a GEAR UP trip.
UC Santa Barbara & Cal Poly SLO
KCHS GEAR UP students had the opportunity to visit UCSB and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on May 9th, 2022. 47 students got a full campus tour and were able to get some campus vibes along with some merch.
UC Davis & Sacramento State University
WE ARE BACK!! Yes, KCHS GEAR UP kicked off fieldtrip season by visiting CSU Sacramento and UC Davis on March 14th, 2022. 32 students had the opportunity to visit and tour CSU Sacramento while enjoying the scenic tree filled campus. Cohort kids also enjoyed a campus tour of UC Davis and had to opportunity to have lunch at Woodstock's Pizza, a popular college hangout, in an effort to fully appreciate the college town vibe!
CSU Northridge & Bakersfield State
20 students attended our field trip to CSUN and Bakersfield, they were excited the visit CSUN. As for Bakersfield, they wished it was a bit bigger and with more campus life.
San Jose State & CSU Monterey Bay
On April 19th, 2022, had the opportunity to visit the San Jose State and CSU Monterey campuses. A total of 48 students were able to experience these campuses even though COVID-19 protocols were still in effect. The bus driver might have lost his job after the unfortunate violence against the decorative rocks in the parking lot. No other rocks were harmed during the duration of this trip.
Chalone Peaks Middle School 8th grade students had an opportunity to visit the University of California, Santa Cruz Campus on September 30, 2019. Forty-three students met with admissions representatives to learn about the requirements to attend this fine institution, key campus facts and support services available to students. UCSC students provided us a tour of the key buildings on campus and talked to students a little about why they should consider becoming Banana Slugs.
Forty-three total cohort students from CPMS and KCHS attended this trip to Fresno State University on September 23, 2019. Students got the opportunity to tour the campus and interact with Bulldog students experiencing life at this university. Fresno State offered our program an admissions presentation which informed students about services and support programs available for them to ensure academic success.
Chalone Peaks Middle School 7th and 8th grade students had the opportunity to visit the University of California, Davis on March 15, 2019. University student organizations such as Hermanos Macehual and Mujeres Ayudando La Raza donated their time to provide campus tours to the forty-eight middle school visitors. Cohort students were able to explore the campus in groups as little as six. Due to the small groups, cohort kids experienced a 400+ student lecture hall, 30 student course discussion group and visited main campus buildings such as Memorial Union, Shields Library, and the Cross Cultural center. Cohort students enjoyed a student panel, which included five students who grew up in King City. Cohort students were able to ask questions about college life.
KCHS Alumni and UC Merced current students Lupita Camacho-Garcia and Priscila Bacio were generous enough to provide forty-eight cohort students with campus tours on September 28, 2018. Both tour guides shared about their experience at CPMS, KCHS and UCM. They talked about their path through high school and currently as freshmen and sophomores in college. UCM admissions provided us with a student panel where cohort students were able to ask questions specific to UCM and what other current students thought of the school and area.
