Extraction with Weak Base (cont.)

Washing the ORG layer with an additional portion of K2HPO4 (aq) will help maximize the recovery!

1. Extract the organic layer with an additional 3 mL of K2HPO4 (aq)

   • mix and vent for several minutes

2. Combine with previous aqueous layer

   • drain AQ layer into the K2HPO4 – ASP AQ vial

   • keep the ORG layer in the sep. funnel
