Washing the ORG layer with an additional portion of KOH (aq) will help maximize the recovery!

1. Extract the organic layer with an additional 3 mL of KOH

• • mix & vent for a few minutes

2. Combine with the previous aqueous layer

• drain AQ layer into the KOH – ACE AQ vial

• keep the ORG layer in the sep. funnel
