Washing the ORG layer with an additional few mLs of the KOH solution at the last step instead of brine helps maximize the amount of acetaminophen recovered from the experiment...skipping that part will lead to product loss.

Mix for one minute, allow the layers to separate
Drain aqueous layer (brine wash) - keep in a separate container labeled “waste” and transfer into the liquid waste at the end experiment
Drain organic layer into a small, labeled Erlenmeyer flask
Use an additional 2 mL of EtOAc to rinse any residual CAF from the walls of the separatory funnel.
Remove any visible water from the bottom of the Erlenmeyer using a pipet
Add two spatula tips of anhydrous sodium sulfate (Na2SO4)
