Safety First!

SAFETY:

Methylcyclohexanols are flammable and irritants.
Alkene products are flammable, irritants, and/or health hazards if swallowed.
Phosphoric acid is corrosive.
Sodium sulfate is corrosive and an irritant.
Acetone is flammable and an irritant.
Potassium permanganate is an oxidizer, irritant, health hazard if swallowed, and an environmental hazard.

Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) Pictograms will be displayed next to safety information.

Match the hazard statements (bolded) to the GHS pictograms:

PPE = Personal Protective Equipment

This is your first line of defense, not a force-field that makes you invincible!

Always take proper precautions to minimize chemical exposure (try not to spill on the counter or yourself).

In the event of chemical exposure, rinse the effected area with water for at least 10 minutes.

Lab Coat

choose right size, button up all the way, sleeves should reach down to glove cuff

Closed-Toe Shoes

Your feet are most vulnerable to spills. Ballet flats and TOMs are examples of shoes that expose the tops of your feet (NOT OK)

Wash hands before you leave

Rinse for AT LEAST 10 minutes

(can be tricky to turn off, ask stockroom for help)

Throw in solid waste

Eye wash

Rinse eyes for AT LEAST 15 minutes. You shouldn't need this since you're wearing goggles, right?!

Shower

Rinse for AT LEAST 10 minutes.
