No sign of product condensing in the Hickman Still!
After you obtain the mass of your starting alcohol, it's easy to forget to add the other reagents before you start to assemble the Hickman still apparatus! (I mean, miniature glassware? SO fun.)
If it takes a super long time for the reaction to occur, chances are you forgot to add the phosphoric acid (conc.).
Luckily, minimal product loss has occurred up to this point, and you can carefully detach the RBF to add the last reagent.
SAFETY: glass might be hot, use two hot mitts to handle.
