Talks will be either 12 minutes or, if awarded a double-wide slot, 24 minutes.
A 12-minute talk consists of a 10-minute presentation and 2 minutes for questions.
A 24-minute talk consists of a 20-minute presentation and 4 minutes for questions.
You may request a 24-minute talk, though these are limited. If all 24-minute slots are filled, you will be offered a 12-minute talk instead. Undergraduate students in their final year are eligible to request a 24-minute talk.
For posters, we will provide boards that can host posters up to 48" wide by 36" tall. Please design your poster within these dimensions in mind.

Prizes
Each year, the section awards prizes to the best student presentation in several categories:
Kennedy Reed Award for best theoretical research by a graduate student
Margaret Burbidge Award for best experimental research by a graduate student
Steven Chu Award for best research by an undergraduate student
Helen Quinn Award for undergraduate research
SPS Poster Awards for best poster by an undergraduate and graduate student
Each prize comes with a monetary award!
