The gear closet is for use by UCR undergraduate & graduate students across departments (including but not limited to Life Sciences, Biology, Entomology, Botany & Plant Sciences, Earth & Planetary Sciences, Evolution, Ecology, & Organismal Biology, etc.)
We encourage students who need gear for any outdoor/field activities (such as educational field trips, field work for faculty-mentored research, field courses, etc.) to submit a gear request
Gear borrower must fill out gear borrowing form and agree to terms of use
Gear must be returned within the pre-selected borrowing period
Gear must be used only for activities listed in the gear borrowing form
Gear must be returned with no more than a reasonable amount of wear and tear
Clothing items must be laundered before they are returned
SRGC leadership will determine if a replacement fee is necessary for any stolen, lost, or irreparably damaged gear. The maximum fee will not exceed the used retail value of the gear.
Step 1: Check the Student Research Gear Closet inventory to determine if the gear you need is in the closet. If not, contact Ally Richards at arich065@ucr.edu and she will help you set up a rental from UCR's Outdoor Excursions at no cost to you.
Please seek approval at least 5 days prior to when the item is needed
If the gear is for a SEEDS activity you may get approval from a SEEDS officer
If the gear is for a CCB activity you may get approval from an officer by emailing Ally Richards at arich065@ucr.edu
If the gear is for a research activity related to faculty-mentored research, please submit a note from your lab's PI
Step 3: Submit your finalized gear request from the Student Research Gear Closet using this Google Form!
We will be in touch with you after you've submitted your request.
