I was born in Haiti and grew up in a town south of Port-au-Prince called Pétion Ville. After experiencing the devastating Haiti earthquake, I was motivated to pursue a career in earthquake seismology. Following this tragedy, I found an opportunity to do my graduate studies at Purdue University where I obtained my masters and my Ph.D. in geophysics. I was then awarded a University of California President's Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of California and after completing my postdoctoral studies in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at UC Riverside, I joined the same department as a tenured-track faculty member in Seismology. My research is focused on understanding the structure and dynamics of the Earth’s crust through the use of seismic imaging techniques and on investigating the effects of fault geometry and background stress on earthquake rupture propagation using computational models.
