Mobile learning allowed instructors to save time. By saving time, students were able to spend more time on complicated concepts to better support learning.
Instructors were able to improve the feedback cycle so students were able to receive feedback more quickly.
Nic Barth taught “Summer Field Geology” at UC Riverside. He improved students’ abilities to master geologic interpretation using iPads running applications for field mapping. He found that using iPads saved time by eliminating the need for students to locate themselves on a map. Instead, he was able to free up time for students to work through more complicated concepts.
Mobile learning can help save time by eliminating the need for students to work through skills they have already mastered and free up time for students to work through more complicated concepts.

Jim Burnette
Jim Burnette incorporated electronic notebooks into his courses while instructing a biology lab at UC Riverside. He found that by doing so students were able to receive feedback more quickly and that this feedback helped them improve their notebook skills.
In this case, Jim Burnette found that by using electronic notebooks the feedback cycle became more efficient and students were able to more rapidly apply the feedback to improve their notebook skills.
