Hi! I'm Maranda and I am a lecturer at CSU Chico. I graduated with my PhD from the Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Riverside in June of 2022, and am looking forward to the coming semester.
Throughout my program at UCR and my time at CSU Chico, I have taught a plethora of courses listed here. I have also been involved in the Microtutorials in Mathematics Project, creating online videos and accompanying worksheets for instructor to teach calculus in a hybrid class setting. I have also partnered with fellow graduate students to lead students in an Undergraduate Research Program.
My research interests lie in Combinatorial Representation Theory and I am currently working in Representation Theory of Lie algebras. To find out more, check here.
I also served as the UCR AMS Graduate Student Chapter President. Our chapter hosts the Graduate Student Seminar, a weekly seminar where graduate students can present whatever they may be interested in. It is a casual seminar built to reinforce our graduate student community and give students a low pressure environment to practice presenting.
When I am not working on math or teaching it, you can find me knitting, crocheting, watercolor painting, or baking. I like to create things, especially those that can be shared with my friends, family, and cats. I hope to one day share math with the world using these creative mediums, making tangible objects that beautifully illustrate deep mathematical concepts and structures.
