Jericho Ortañez

Jericho Ortañez graduated from UC Riverside with a B.S. Biology degree in 2017. As an undergraduate, he participated in several research projects involving community ecology (Piovia-Scott Lab) and fungal evolutionary genomics (Stajich Lab) where he was involved in three publications.

Currently, he is a Ph.D. candidate at UC Riverside in the Degnan Lab. He conducts in vitro/ in vivo experiments and computational analysis to capture and characterize mobile genetic elements found in human gut-associated bacteria.
