In September 2024, UCR launched LIFTED a groundbreaking Bachelor's degree program offered to students incarcerated at California Rehabilitation Center (CRC Norco).
Students are admitted through the regular UC admissions process, with no special exceptions, upon completion of their associate's degree (or equivalent). Faculty from UCR offer courses that allow students to graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Education, Society and Human Development, within two years. Admitted students take the same courses offered on campus by faculty who are leaders in their respective fields. Courses are offered face-to-face, in-person, inside CRC, by faculty from the School of Education (SoE) and the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS).
