I have sailed on three large-scale research expeditions: Expedition SO260 to the Argentine Basin on the R/V SONNE; Expedition PS119 to the South Sandwich Islands and East Scotia Ridge on the R/V Polarstern; and IODP Expedition 398 to the Cristiana-Santorini-Kolumbo Volcanic Field on the JOIDES Resolution. On Expeditions SO260 and PS119 I sailed as a biogeochemist, but also worked on sedimentological descriptions of multicorer, gravity, box, and piston cores. On Expedition 398, I sailed as an inorganic geochemist.
In addition to these larger expeditions, I have also completed field work on the R/V Strickland in Effingham Inlet, a restricted fjord on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada in 2021. In 2023, I performed water column and sediment sampling at Green Lake, a meromictic, euxinic lake in Fayetteville, New York. This work is in collaboration with geomicrobiologists Emily Klonicki and Dr. Tina Treude at UCLA characterizing the methane and sulfur cycles in sediments and the water column. Lastly, I completed the Oklahoma State University Les Houston Field Camp in Cañon City, Colorado as part of my undergraduate geology degree.
Please find additional information about my field work on my CV, the relevant cruise reports (hyperlinked above), and enjoy pictures from these experiences below!
